Piece Style & Design is a boutique homewares store in prestigious area of Tallebudgera Valley on the Gold Coast. Piece offers furniture and bespoke household items that have been recycled and refurbished and are ethical and animal friendly.
The most important aspect of the branding was that the logo needed to represent the vast natural beauty of Australia referencing a marriage of ocean and hinterland.
The logo involved a customization of Maximiliano Sproviero's beautiful Aire typeface. Whilst originally I set out to create my own type for this project, I felt Aire was exactly what I was looking for and conveyed the core values of Piece perfectly in a unique typographic expression.
The harder serifs were replaced with the other curvacious elements of the typeface to give it a feeling of flowing air or water and the connecting strokes of the 'e's were thickened very slightly.
