The process began by cutting a bell pepper into 10 equal 0.8" thick slices.
Each slice was traced by hand, numbered, and scanned into the computer.
Each scanned slice was traced on Illustrator. Ten more slices were fabricated by overlapping two consecutive traced slices and drawing the intermediate between the two, for a total of 20 layers of pepper.
The Illustrator file was then printed out and glued onto Bristol board, and each slice was cut out by hand.
Over 60 1/4 inch "half cube" gussets were cut out, glued together, and glued between the slices to act as spacers. The entire process, from start to finish, took approximately 40 hours to complete.
