Basha Uhuru: Redefining Realness

Basha Uhuru: Redefining Realness

Basha Uhuru was the true manifestation of the fact that “We are our ancestors wildest dreams”, a quote that has so boldly strewn the streets of social media and bravely owned by girls and boys alike who confidently identify as the ‘woke’ generation. A youth driven celebration which embraces and showcases creative culture in all its forms and vastness, the freedom festival unfolded on the last 3 days of youth month at The Constitutional Hill in Braamfontein. Con Hill, as it is so affectionately known, has very quickly become a place of utmost expression at its best, it reeks of youth dynamism and fresh energy, not to mention the quirky, the cool and ever styling crowds that it attracts. Buzzing with exhilaration and sounds of freedom by the likes of Moonchild, Sho Madjozi and renowned multi skilled artist Muzi, the energy shook the atmosphere and I imagine our very ancestors whose stories and experiences no longer haunted the passages but rejoiced at the beats of change. What a time to be alive!
