BASE 8

BASE 8 offers a radical approach to everyday cooking and baking, altering the idea of recipe as a static entity. Instead, this book shifts the focus to a base and variation mentality, in which understanding a food’s structure allows for infinite and dynamic change. Each recipe begins with a base, or the simplest version of the item, followed by a set of eight variations that expand upon the idea. Additionally, all eight base recipes are made of different combinations of the same eight simple ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, and water) providing an easy alternative to the current trend of increasingly processed, ready-made food.
