'Together' Poster Series
Project Brief: Create a poster based on the words ‘Sharing and Bonding’, which were assigned to me. The aesthetic of the poster should be governed by the style of a designer whose work I admire.
The idea behind this project was to create a poster based on the words ‘Sharing and Bonding’. The visual language was conceptualised to pay homage to the iconic style of the late Massimo Vignelli. I decided to approach this through the perspective of international relations. Despite ‘sharing’ their borders, countries don’t always ending up ‘bonding’ with one another. In today’s effervescent global political scenario, conflict between neighbouring countries is a common occurrence; sometimes manifesting in a direct show of force, and sometimes in the demonstration of soft power.
Though it might seem like an idealistic approach, the intention was to remind people of the importance of ‘sharing and bonding’, even amongst nations, in contributing to world peace. Made to feature as part of a campaign for the International Day of Peace, on September 21, each poster in the series features a quote on peace, by influential people of their time, such as Albert Einstein and Mother Teresa, to name a few.
