Time: A measurement of Faith

Time: A measurement of Faith by Mabel Kuan
Special thanks to : Joanna Mak ,Claire Tan & Elisabeth Eveline Cahyadi
This piece was exhibited in Georgetown festival, Penang on August 2015

Rationale :
This artwork was made by the artists to tell her audience and themselves that life is not accidental. Their inspiration for this piece came from people like Noah and Abraham in the Bible, and how they were tested in their faith and patience while the others mocked them.
The artists aim to illustrate life and how sometimes we see life as a seemingly meaningless mess. But if we shift our focus to see how God looks at each of our lives, it brings meaning to it. It forms a bigger picture.

Materials and Method :
Firstly, I have a picture of a hourglass. Using Adobe photoshop, I pixelate the image to get the number of particles that I need to form a shape of a hourglass. Then I have a team of people who helped me build a 6ft x10ft x3ft frame using galvanized pipes. A mesh wire is added on top of the structure to hold the clips with beads attached to it on the other end. I used fishing lines to create an illusion of floating beads. The beads comes in different sizes in diameter.
