Aluminium Extrusion Hook
3D Printed model of aluminium hinge/hook
These photographs show the final 3D printed model of the proposed aluminium extrusion, demonstrating its suitability for being extruded and cut into small sections with minimal machining. It has an away position and a down position and requires only one screw to be mounted onto the wall.
Precedent boards
Precedent boards showing existing aluminium extrusion hinges as well as existing foldaway hooks.
Cardboard exploration and development sketches
Sketches and cardboard models aid in developing an original idea for a hook which is mechanically viable and suited for aluminium extrusion.
Digital development
Screenshots of the SOLIDWORKS creation process which was developed in order to be 3D printed and used for engineering drawings and renders.
Engineering Drawing
Drawing showing that the SOLIDWORKS parts are suited for aluminium extrusion and the offset required for the hook to move. The weight of the 3D printed ABS hook is 7.49g.
CAD Context renders
These renders demonstrate the hook in use in context, rendered in SOLIDWORKS.
CAD detail renders
Close up renders showing the details of the hook and hinge and how they fit together as ABS plastic and aluminium.
