Hella Tight
“keep the coin between those knees” – A birds and the bees tip from my Grandfather to his granddaughters.

The Varicose Dance
Proper sitting etiquette, as I explored in hella tight, can mark a lady as easy or classy but more importantly, it can effect a girl’s circulation. My father told me this in the car as a young girl: avoid varicose and spiders veins by not crossing your legs.

Timshel
Timshel translates from Hebrew to mean thou mayest. I borrowed this term from Salinas Valley's most celebrated author, John Steinbeck, in East of Eden. I interpreted this phrase as such; thou mayest decide one’s own fate.

519 Pansies
A distorted image of a house = a distorted relationship. Pansies have been a metaphor for weak character. In this print, there’s a faint image of a boy peeing in the well-tended flowers, ruining the hard work put into their care.

The Inoculator
During Harvest my task was to inoculate the wines to start fermentations. I learned about different strains of yeast and what they were best suited for. My favorite one smelled like white cheddar powder in a package of Annie’s Mac and Cheese. It mixed well in the yeast slurry, or what I affectionately called them, my yeast babies. I felt like a proud parent the next day when I found signs of fermentation.

The Beauregard Label
The Porter Fellowship of the Arts awarded me a grant to design wine labels using intaglio printmaking techniques. Each label’s design was based on the french concept terroir; sense of place. To best reflect the special characteristics of the Santa Cruz Mountains, I partnered with sustainable vineyards. Featured here: Beauregard Vineyards,”The Lost Weekend,” a red wine blend.

Happy Hour
La Bella Vista Social Pub, the local watering hole during my time in Siena, Italy. The image of the bar and the town’s clock tower are featured here. My knowledge of wine was blossoming and my experiences abroad were a rush like being spun in air.

God or Fate?
A portrait of Franz Ferdinand and my thoughts on superstition: "If you consciously envisioned something dreadful, then it couldn't possibly take place...God or Fate would refuse to be anticipated by a mere mortal" -quote from Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe.

Goose for Granted
The golden goose was a beloved pet, which laid precious eggs until the greedy owner cut the gut of the goose open. He found no treasure and lost his only source of happiness. Using the artistic hand as a symbol of the greedy master, this print is a cautionary tale against too much ego.

Teddy
This print is a tribute to my late father, Theodore. The milk bottle and the note saying, drink me, alludes to our shared vices. Remembering his virtues led me to where I am now. I chose to use the plates from this print in the g-spot chair, symbolizing a transformation to the next phase in my life.
