Bird illustrations 2018
Double headed Cormorant (study)
I did this small painting as a concept study for a bigger project ("Olivine"), since I never painted a marsh before (or a two headed cormorant!). Really enjoyed painting the fog and the trees.
24x16cm watercolor and ink on Winsor&Newton paper
Little Sparrow
Before drawing something I normally do some practice sketches.
I dreamed about being in a barn on the countryside. A sparrow flew in and sat on top of some boxes. She moved in a strange way and looked at me as if she were a person. I noticed that she was wearing something heavy on her neck. It was an iron ring with an engraved number. I asked her if she wanted me to help her pull it off. And so, still looking at me, she ducked her head and the ring fell.
14,5x21cm ink and white gel pen on Canson paper.
Black Swan and Poppies
14x24cm Arches watercolor paper
Maybe you´ll hear an odd call when the fog falls and the poppies are in bloom. Beware, it could be the Swan King,  slowly guiding you to your tomb.
Pelican and Skulls
13x17cm Canson watercolor paper
Blood pelicans spend arround two months a year searching for perfect skulls to add to their nests.
