Rosebud is a reference to the Orson Welles film Citizen Kane the storyline of which revolves around trying to find out why the last thing that the dying newspaper mogul Citizen Kane said was ‘rosebud’. This cinematic vignette is relevant to this business because it reflects the idea that a close inspection of single words can reveal the motivation behind powerful people and momentous actions.
