2015 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle - Hero Portal

This is the first Hero Portal game I worked on for the Jakks Pacific Toy company. The Hero Portal games were 'inspired' by the hardware design of Activision's Skylanders games. They didn't run on consoles, instead they came with their own bespoke hardware that plugged directly into the any television or monitor with AV phono inputs.
These products were designed to sell at a low cost at retail so the hardware used was very low powered and similar in capability to past 16bit consoles like the Sega Genesis/Megadrive and Nintendo SNES.
Me and my co-workers at HotGen were the ideal team to work on the Hero Portal titles because we had all worked on the 8bit and 16bit game consoles of the past.
I was the Lead Artist on this game. The sprite animation and some mini game graphics were provided by other artists on my team.  I provided the VFX, some of the interactive objects, the HUD and the frontend menus and screens. I also managed the process of converting the high colour sprites and level graphics down to low colour levels (16, 32 or 256 colors depending on hardware mode).
Unfortunately getting good visual examples of this game has proven difficult due to the analog output of the hardware not looking nice when recorded.
