Peruvian reinterpretation of Michelangelo's "Pietà". In the original "Pietà", the Virgin Mary cradles Jesus' body after his crucifixion.

In this reinterpretation, a young me cradles my mother, as to portray the custom of children taking care of the parents as they get older. The background with Peruvian textiles, Andean plants, the Andean mountain range, and angels playing the panflute, ressembles the Latin American portrayal of religious figures.

The title is 'Pieta' in Spanish, which translates to pity or lamentation.

This project was entirely hand-sewn, embroidered, and knitted.
