I hand crafted and painted a giant Chinese take-out box and stuffed individual fortune cookies with various racial comments I have heard and received over the years. It is a reflection how being adopted by a white family has displaced my identity as an Asian-American and how I still receive racial comments about my physical appearance. Despite the assumption of others, I have always identified as "American" first.
Like fortune cookies; I am American.
