An illustration I made as a university project, based on an excerpt of the book “In the Skin of a Lion” by Michael Ondaatje, It’s about prisoners who have to paint the prisons roof with blue paint. The blue of the sky starts to match the roof and the they get the impression of erasing everything painted. It brings them to the idea of covering themselves in paint to disappear in front of the sky, thus escaping the enclosure – at least in their minds.
The task was just to create something with this as a topic and inspiration, whether it would be an illustration, sculpture or even a written poem was completely up to us.
