Tension Bench
is based on the folding, stitching, and wiring of clothing in America in the early 1900s. The structure and connections of those pieces became the detail and aesthetic. This piece emerged as a way to re-look at connections. For example, the stiching once used as a connector,is now used as a seating surface. The connections illustrate the forces of compression and tension that stabilize the form. It is a system that works together in balance in order to work at all.
