Public Pool - Integrated Project

Public Pool - Stuttgart West
4th semester, IBK2, ibbte, ITKE Integrated Project
This project is a design for a indoor public pool in Stuttgart City, Germany with concentration on building construction, structure and building technology.
Located in a park that forms a light hill, the design follows the topography by stepping up one terrace each of the four volumes. The volumes are formed by parallel walls wich vary in length and height. Atmosphere and lighting was the main theme. A shed adapted to local conditions bring smooth and continuous light into the main swimming hall, whereas the adjoining volumes have skylights that follow the corridors. By pulling the walls into the park the boundary between inside and outside becomes blurry. The reduction of the materials to concrete, steel and glass underlines the simplicity of the design language.
