Hello! My name is Jake Leroux and I am a student at Brophy in Phoenix AZ. In my graphic design class we were assigned with the project of creating or designing a new city flag. I decided to redesign the phoenix flag because I don't really know any other cities as well as I know Phoenix. The current flag is ranked the fourth best city flag in the nation so it didn't need to be redesigned but I decided to anyway. I took a lot of inspiration from the current flag for my final design, I just changed a few things. Considering that the background is just a solid color and the only icon on the image is the phoenix in my opinion it is too simple. So I decided to design a more detailed phoenix using the Curvature Tool in Adobe Illustrator. And the current Phoenix on the flag is too old and mainstreamed so I wanted to change it up. The Greek meaning for the word Phoenix is maroon or purple that is why I made the background purple. I made the bird white because it contrasts well with the purple background. The Phoenix of coarse symbolizes us "Rising up" and becoming a great city!
