This project was my first experience with the salt glazed, wood fired and the gas reduction kiln. We had an opportunity to work at the International Ceramics Studio at Kecskemét, and we had an amazing time, the results were also so exciting. I worked with different clays, some of them had a little bit more fireclays in it, lighter and darker clays also, and several kinds of component, like sometimes I used porcelain as a pigment. I used some alternative way to develop the objects surface with knifes, spoon, different thickness brushes, and this is how I got the pattern. Then I got to know the unique glazes, e.g. chun, ox blood, acacia ash glaze, ten moku, the salt glaze, etc. I loved work with them, the finished ceramics almost unreproducible, because of the materials, the firing temperature and the reduction and oxidation processes. Actually, the firing was a way longer procedure than I thought, the actual firing time took 10 hours, and the firing temperature was 1320°C. This firing process primarily a typical east-asian tradition, but we europeans have also mastered it.
A projekt során megismerkedtem a sómázas, fa tüzelésű és gáz redukciós kemencével. Lehetőségünk volt a Nemzetközi Kerámia Stúdióban dolgozni Kecskeméten, ahol izgalmas eredmények születtek. Különböző színre égő, samottos agyagokkal dolgoztam és előfordult, hogy porcelánt használtam színtestként. Majd megismerkedtem a különleges távol-keleti mázakkal, máz recepteket is készítettem, mint pl. chun, ökörvér, akác hamu máz, ten moku, sómáz stb. Nagyon megszerettem a fatüzes és sómázas kerámiák jellegét, a tárgyak szinte megismételhetetlenek, a redukciós és oxidációs folyamatok miatt, ilyenkor sok körülmény közrejátszik. Az égetés nagyjából 10 óra alatt, zajlott le, nagy élmény volt számomra.
