Portraits of flesh

Portraits of flesh
My 'genre' is fine-art portraits and illustrations of machines. Between projects I play with Corel Painter and sketch out the stuff my Wife would like me to paint. Sometimes, if gripped by insomnia or an overdose of sugar I doodle.

In this case I doodled a handful of people portraits.

John Renwick (Artist)
Meet John Renwick (above). John is the co-founder and resident artist at the ArtBank Bunclody. I photographed him while grafting and helping to set up the Streams of Bunclody Festival last year. The portrait best captures his energies. The ambiguity is intentional..in case you miss it.
My brother
This here is my brother playing Best Man at my wedding. Our wedding photographer was crap. The photos of my brother were particularly grainy and dark.

Painting the portrait has put a new light into Andrew. He even has a renewed glimmer in his eye.

This portrait has replaced the wedding photos of him on my studio wall. It took a lot of work and new techniques and was worth it. The likeness is very close. I think he'd like it although he passed away recently bless him, so hasn't really got a say in it.
