The project:

I was commissioned by WHAIM, a Cambodia based design studio, to help them develop a chair for a travel agency/coffee shop they were working for.
The Making:

For this project, WHAIM collaborated with local craftsmen. The chairs were made in a wood and metal Phnom Penh based workshop.
Using two wood essences underline the construction of the chair, every joints are visible and reflect the assembly process.
A felt cushion was added for a greater comfort, a thick coloured sewing tread is used to outline the shape of the seat. The object aesthetic is guided by the making process.
