Natural Colonizers: weave

GROWING SYSTEMS: WEAVE
This is a collection of weave samples using a double cloth manual loom. Their main focus is on colour an texture, so that they resemble the objects of my research. Some of the techniques used were pleats, partial pleats, floats, distorted weft, satin and plain weave. A great variety of threads were used including mohair wool, lambswool, viscose, cottons and polyesters.

I chose to look deeply into structures of nature that colonize objects or other organisms. As they grow and invade rocks, shells, trees and walls, a new living landscape appears in the scene.

I have always been interested in science, more specifically in biological sciences. I get constantly inspired by nature and the structures found in it. Sometimes we take organisms for granted, but when we look more deeply into them we find how complex and detailed they are.
