Daphne is a piece inspired by a tree. The objective of this piece is to explore the materiality of a tree’s external bark and push the limitations of such an ethnic trademark. The fabric is intended to be held together by the body.
Material: Wool fabric & thread. Hand-sewn.
Model: Avril Teo
“All at once, the bark seemed to flow straight from the ground as if there was a stream underneath its roots. Like water over flowing the bank of a river, it flowed until the bark diverged and extended across the land and sky. Using a needle and a thread and without much attention to the straight and angular theories of man, I sought to embrace what man saw as the imperfect in all that was natural and labored in a cyclical manner as a tree would all its life.”
