Easycompost - Website design
Easycompost is an organic waste collecting service for professionals (hotels, restaurants, grocery stores) in Paris, France.
This is a new organization with no pre-existing website and the task was to design it from scratch.
1st phase : research
With limited sources of information available (no analytics & market data, no users), I decided, as a starting point, to interview the founder of the organization to get answers to a few key guiding questions :
- How would you define your brand in a few words ?
- What is the main goal of your organization ?
- What do you want to achieve with the website ?
- Who are your users ? Who are your customers ?
2nd phase : wireframing & prototyping
Based on the results from the research, I draw a quick pen and paper wireframe to validate with the founder of the organization the information structure of the website.
I then proceeded on designing a prototype (with Adobe XD) to validate the look & feel of the website.
3rd phase : first implementation & user feedbacks
By this time, we managed to have a list of beta-testers for the website. I decided to build a first & quick version of the website using WordPress and to use it to gather user feedbacks.
To gather feedbacks, I used a form structured around 4 key questions about the experience users had on the website (what delighted them, what could be improved, what was not clear, ideas/suggestions). I also ask them questions about their perception of the service and a question to calculate the Net Promoter Score.
4th phase : making sense of user feedbacks
The main insights from the users were :
- the usability is great
- the value proposition is not compelling
- the process is not clear
Based on this, I added new "features" : infographic showing the process, page called Compost with key arguments and information on how composting works, overhaul of the page Offer including a map of the areas covered by the service.
