"My Backyard at 1455 45th Avenue"

Diptych, 6' x 4' canvas panels, acrylic paint, gel medium
"My Backyard at 1455 45th Avenue" is a response to the prompt 'inside/outside'. I explore the idea that growing up, I felt a sense of being simultaneously always on the inside and always on the outside. Growing up in a multicultural family environment, I always felt that my features and traditions set me apart from everyone else. In the backyard, however, I controlled the environment and the boundaries, and I was able to create a space that was my own.

This project also focused on creating a language of personal narrative and personal symbolism
