GoldieBlox® — Challenging Gender Stereotypes

GoldieBlox® is a disruptive children’s media company that challenges gender stereotypes by introducing bold, aspiring female characters to the world. By integrating the art of storytelling with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) principles, they have thoughtfully designed an extensive range of ground-breaking products that make a real difference to the future of many young girls. 

For this project, my role as a strategist and creative director was to craft a three-print magazine advertisement campaign for GoldieBlox® while ensuring its single-minded proposition is delivered to the target audience in a clear, crisp manner.

Core Communication
My advertising message is built around the preconceived notion that the world is divided into ‘Pink’ and ‘Blue’: pink for girls and blue for boys. However, GoldieBlox® goes beyond gender and encourages young girls to face and solve problems constructively; giving them tools to build their dreams the way they want to.

Visual Language:

Visual Toolkit
The colour palette is designed to be fresh, modern and distinctive while ensuring it remains consistent throughout the branding. Colour as an important visual element differentiates GoldieBlox® from competitor brands in a crowded marketplace. 

The primary typeface used is Dinot Bold, which is supported by italicised Bodoni. It is a simple, clean and legible typeface that perfectly compliments the logo.

Visual Elements
To weave a coherent visual language, three key symbols were carefully chosen to highlight the integration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) principles into GoldieBlox®'s ground-breaking products. Additionally, these symbols also work as visual aid for each headline.
