Badastoor - Unaltered ,  is a collection of garments that embodies the struggle of every woman against the norms of beauty, set by the world.A journey of self - discovery, and resistance captured by screen-printed motifs.  

The theme was that of resistance the one had gone through in their life. Based on my personal experiences, I focused on the resistance I had exhibited against various beauty standards that are imposed. The collection consists of free size garments and the prints reflect the thought of the resistance.

Looking at fallen hair and the connotation of disgust associated with it the element was incorporated into the form of a rose which being a flower is often associated with beauty. 

The motif with four roses was chosen and rotated in order to create a more continuous repeat pattern. The fallen hair was also added as a part of the background for the repeat. The pattern was developed such that it could be used as two individual surfaces as follows. 

Drawing on the concept of a fallen hair with a follicle , The form in in itself was used to create a surface.

Covering the extremities that one faces with issues of body image, this print explores the emotions one feels in an exaggerated manner. The cut up body parts conveys the concept of imperfection that one associate with a part of their body to an extent that it didn't exist. The scissors and the dotted lines represent the urge to alter the body to the ideal shape and size. 

The products chosen were based on the concept of resistance against imposed beauty standards. The garments chosen were free size ones that could be worn by people of different body sizes and shapes.
