Fascinated by the optimistic belief in the malleability of the human body in our high tech society, I wanted to create a work of art with things that symbolizes that trust: medicines.
I have made this series with cooperation of (and after an extensive correspondence with) various pharmacists and the dutch medical inspection.

By calling in the help of the medical world and involving them into (the start of) this project, I was able to discover which complications the material would bring.
There are many obstacles: the work may not be exposed without supervision and "in the vicinity of children and junkies", for that I even had to sign contracts.

In short, there are many limitations to this work, and that triggers me.
I ask myself questions like:
• are these still medicines or is it no longer a collection of medicines, but a work of art and must it also be regarded as such
• till where does my responsibility reach
• is exhibition abroad a possiblity or one big no go area...
• may I sell my/this work

lot's of questions.
Meanwhile I’m working on new projects in this and other series.
