the man with rubble

This image shows the randomness of disaster. We can see how the man's  house fell down into rubble while others' still standing tall. What is he doing sitting there? Is he searching for some important belongings or just grieving?
Alley

The house I grew up in is in an alley just like this. Do you notice street dogs, smoke from a burning fire, people sitting on the patio, electric wires, trashes, streetwalkers and mixes of old and new houses? The only difference is there are some houses that have fallen down from the earthquake.
Mother

Actually, the title should be "two mothers and two daughters". A mother taking care of her daughter who just had a baby and a new mother taking care of her baby daughter. These people live on the second floor in one of my family buildings. I still remember they got out from the building long after the earthquake because of a new baby. We were too scared to get back to our houses since we were still having aftershocks. People decided to stay in a nearby government land that had many sewage pipes. We cleaned the sewage pipes with bushes and made a temporary living place for mothers and babies since it was starting to rain.
A Lady against a pipe

It amazes me that I can relate to this lady. I am here in the United States dealing with the most privileged people in the world. While on the other side, I used to deal with this lady who doesn't have anything fancy in her rented one room, where she shares with her son and daughter in law along with a dog named 'Lucky'. She might have been frightened by the earthquake but she was not worried about her property like a lot of homeowners were. Why should she be? She has nothing to lose material wise except for wellness of her loved ones.
