Social Welfare- Textiles

With picture perfect magazine covers, gorgeous models in television adverts and large billboards at every nook and corner - people all over the world are often conditioned to measuring themselves against these 'perfect' models. Sometimes in this process, people find faults in themselves and begin to dislike parts of their body that aren't considerd desirable according to the 'ideal body types' propagated by various brands in the fashion industry. Through this project, we hope to find inspiration and beauty in parts of the body that often make people feel conscious. The three garments are adorned with patterns derived by the very things that are found on our bodies- body hair, stretch marks and acne.

We were a group of 5 girls and wanted to work on a project that we personally connected with. This was the first attempt for most of us at working with textiles. All the pieces here were made over 4 days. They were also made with recycled cloth, no material was purchased.
