I designed and built Ambient Knowledge as part of my Masters. It’s an energy monitor that glows various colours to display the amount of electricity being used in your home. AK was published and exhibited in Ars Electronica 2010.

Ambient Knowledge is non-invasive and easy to install. It uses a CT sensor and a step down AC - AC power adapter to produce signals proportional to the current being used in the home. The information is sent to an Arduino microcontroller that controls LEDs in the display.
