Bioleather is a project, in which a fellow student and I experimented with growing a leather-like material from kombucha scobys. SCOBY is an acronym for Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast.
After growing in an acidic brew for about a month, the tea forms a spongy cover the size of the container. This skin can then be removed, rinsed and dried out to create a leather-like material with which it is possible to make garments etc.
The experiment was conducted alongside "Nødvendisme" in which Sarah and I made a moss clad jacket.

· Concept, idea and execution by Sarah Blicher Bek and Karla Werner Zeuthen.
