Type Specimen Poster
I was assigned Verena Gerlach’s ‘FF Chambers Sans’ type. The typeface ‘FF Chambers Sans’ is a marriage of two styles that have polar opposite effects. The traditional serif engravings from a 1686 scientific book along with a generic sans serif style taken from letterings on enamel street signs. It is a successful experimentation done by the designer, synthesizing conflicting opposites to form a cooperative whole.

The color palette differs as for the first poster, I intended to replicate the 'scientific book' aesthetic using a subdued cool tone color palette that is stereotypically associated to scientific practices. In contrast, the second poster takes on a bright vivid color palette to emphasize how a structurally stern looking typeface could be used in a playful light-hearted manner.
These are full sized images of my specimen posters.
Both posters display the character set, weights and numerals. An additional description of the typeface is also included.
These are mock ups and other iterations I had for my final poster designs.
