Disney Castle Cross-Stitch

This was a project that I created for the #disneycraftswapp on Instagram. This was an online craft swap themed around anything and everything Disney related. My partner is a big fan of the Disney castle so I knew I wanted to create something for her based on this iconic image. I found a picture of the silhouette of the castle online and loaded it into MacStitch to begin making the pattern. I had to fix up some of the outside lines by adding and subtracted stitches on the program until I was satisfied. Then I started to color the castle. My partner had previously posted a picture of a Disney castle mini quilt which used a similar blocked, pastel color pattern that I ended up using in my cross stitch design. After I was satisfied with my colors, I printed my pattern and began stitching. I used my typical 8” hoop, 14pt white Aida fabric, and DMC threads. When I was finished, I stretched the cross stitch over an 8x10 canvas to display it before shipping it off to my swap partner. Overall the project took me about 3 months. This is one of the biggest stitching projects that I’ve tackled, and I love the way it turned out. This project was also featured on the @disney_crafts Instagram page.
