Exhibition Pavilion in Thessaloniki

Exhibition Pavilion on Navarinou street, Thessaloniki

The pavilion is located on Navarinou str., a crowded pedestrian street in downtown Thessaloniki. It is adjacent to the Galerian Complex important archeological site of the city’s roman and byzantine history. It is positioned in the middle of the street resting slightly above ground on top of two of the existing elevated “gardens”. The plan of the pavilion is mirroring the plan of the ancient basilica that can be discerned in the ruins. It consists of a metal and glass construction with a layer of steel rods on the outside. It is a light constructionthat can be built and unbuilt on site. On the inside there is one large exhibition room as well as a small restroom and reception space.
The pavilion can host exhibitions of items found on the archaeological site. Part of the exhibition can also take place in the open air elevated platform on the outside.
