<< The sharp repetitive drip of each drop of water, a whisper's gentle kiss, the teasing allure of a distant laugh. All are free to dance and swirl here. >>

The atmosphere for the grand volume of the bath house called for a texture rich and light toned material. A material that would reflect light and sound.  A common enough material to invite interaction but does not explicitly seek attention and for that a plaster came to mind. Although the plaster could have been tooled perfectly, or cast in place by using a plaster cloth I was able to capture the radius I needed for the dome without the trouble of casting and kept an amplified level of texture. The skylight was a design consideration addressed later on in the construction of the model. Luckily I was able to cut into the cast dome to remove an area to allow for daylight to pour into the space. In order to break up the harsh direct light the addition of a curved wooden light shelf was added so that the incoming light would now gently pour down the plaster walls.

The dome and the 'guts' are separate free standing elements so that I would be able to manipulate the entourage within the space more easily. The nude entourage was selected and altered from paintings found online the life the forms express worked well in amplifying the atmosphere of the space.
From dome casting, to entourage cut-n-glue, to scene setting to lighting.
