Under the Sea #1
13” x 19”, watercolor on watercolor paper

Contrasting colors were used to make this image stand out. The octopus is a bright orange and the background is a mixture of blues and greens, which also give the piece depth through value and texture. The coral in the background is blended more to give softer edges to show that the coral is farther away from the viewer than the octopus, which has more defined edges. Blues, greens, and purples were used for the shadows to make them look more realistic.
