Chris Bardt - Fall 2016
The aim of this class was to explore to the fullest extent the idea of translation. From drawings to physical models to digital ones, each student discovers unique ways to measure their still life. Through these series of assignments, the student starts to create a language with which they aim to describe their still life.

Each student was asked to mark the still life with the information
that was noted in their drawings. As they were drawn in two different perspectives, the challenge lied in marking the overlapping spaces.
The most crucial part of the semester was the jump from physical to digital. With the help of our unique measuring tools, each student put their still life into the digital world, rhino. I marked different types of secitons with the help of a bucket of ink slightly diluted in water. To get the outline , used the profile comb.

I also wrapped yarn around the object and applied glue on it in order to get the outlines necessary for the recreation of this still life in rhino.
This process continued until the transition was complete and the sill life was digitalized.
II- Coar Section

The coar section is a 2 inch section scaled up to twice it’s initial size. I wanted to highlight the importance of sections in my measuring method. So, i took 4 sectional planes of my 2” section model, printed these outlines and used yarn, glue and string to create this coar section.
I- From Digital to Drawing
These are the series of steps broken down to show the process which enabled me to obtain a drawing of the still life.
