Grumpy began as an absent-minded doodle on a sticky note. I liked him so much that I decided to make him my first alabaster carving. His compact, chunky figure made him perfect for stone. Carving him was a good opportunity to play with distorting anatomy: figuring out how to give both convincing fat and defined musculature to a creature that is, for all intents and purposes, just a head with limbs. Not sure what he's upset about... he's just grouchy, I guess.
Alabaster, approx. 11 1/8" tall.
