Alex is a refugee from a world torn apart. His only chance is to find a place that survived the apocalypse. The only thing guiding him through this decaying post-apocalyptic wasteland is a voice of a girl… He calls her Kris.

“Something is wrong with the sky“, was a title of a short story that inspired short film Kris. It was written in the midst of the biggest refugee crises that swept over North Africa and Europe in the last 50 years.

Thousands of people roaming through the strange countries, not sure of their destination, alienated from societies in these sometimes hospitable sometimes hostile lands. The only thing connecting them with their lost lives were the videos and photos stored on their smart phones.

90% of the movie was shot in the dead of night on very high ISO (64k, and sometimes even more) using the Sony alpha s2.
By letting the moonlight replace the sun a strange light atmosphere was created. The look of a world under a dying star.

We pushed the camera so far on the set, using custom curves to get as much info as possible. Every shot needed to be treated, by separately denoising, grading and compositing everything together. As a result, we preserved as much darks as possible, and kept as little burnouts from that harsh filming environment.
