Design & Illustration
Illustration & Digital Work from 2007 to Present.
This collection of digital and non-digital work focuses on specific design concepts and incorporates everything from monochromatic works to a wide range of color theory pieces, most of which were completed as part of my undergraduate studies.  Others were done on commission or as personal work.
Bang! Bang! Ink and gouache on illustration board (2007).

This layered graphic illustration was created using multiple paper elements, paper, foam core, ink, and gouache. In a tribute to the graphic brilliance and overt feminine sexuality of Lichtenstein, I chose to create a composition based on a portion of female legs with themes of vulnerability and violence throughout.
In Between Spaces. Study in negative space.  Ink on illustration board, 2007.

For this piece, I balanced the deep black shapes with stark white of the illustration board to create a claustrophobic, inorganic, industrial feel.
Shifter.  Ink on illustration board, 2007.

An exercise in one color design, I created this bar-code-like structure, which masks a stylized gear manual transmission shift.  I enjoy driving my manual car, so I build on that connection and nostalgia with my audience.
Revolver.  Ink on illustration board, 2007.

Here, I formed my composition based only on one simple graphic profile of a six-shooter. Loosely based on Andy Warhol's use of guns and repeated serigraphy, I rotated the image, without flipping it, and reversed the colors.  I used the one circular shape to connect the rotations and the other straight lines to draw the viewer to all parts of the piece.
Evolution of Language, (Commission).  Ink on paper, 2010.

This piece was commissioned as part of a presentation on the evolution of the modern English language.
.  Digitally adapted from one of my earlier painted studies in color, 2009.
