Gray Code explores the physicality of sound through layeredrhythmic patterns, complex collage, and the computer manipulation of guitar,clarinets, and percussion. Floating Point is a series of live performances overa period of 2 years, representing the evolution of this unique outfit’sexperimentations with the combination of free improvisation and interactiveelectronics. Studio Mercury’s album design created a physical manifestation ofthese performance though optical patterns developed in the 1900’s for soundvisualization. Letterpress on a unique “rubber-like” paper, each album wasnumbered as a limited edition to extend the artistic creation.
