Monster Up is a series of urban intervention formulated from the question “how
can I design a situation that facilitates playful behaviours in non-playful public spaces?” They are about reclaiming and transforming public spaces for local residents in community Brunnsbo to play.
In this project, I would like to investigate how does public space engage more children to play and then inally ind the potentiality of turning public space into the playscape.
During the design process, I have been working with children and testing the dif-
ferent play triggers for different situations which helped me inally settle down to the theme “monster”.
The method is to ind potential objects of the site instead of manufacturing new structure and use a system to identify selected objects. By recreating and reimag- ining the uses of objects in playful ways, it broadens people’ views on how we should behave in public space and incorporate more playfulness in their day-to- day life.
