Bendy, Betty, and Bob

Silly and asymmetrical: these are the key words that guided my form language. My task for this project was to create a series of objects that reflected the given words. The resulting sculptural teapots are a delight to look at from every angle.
Process
Because the forms were meant to be asymmetrical, I hand-bent hot acrylic rods after heating them with a heat blanket. They are bent on multiple axes, creating a non-uniform look when seen from different angles. These bends became the handles for the teapots.
Wooden dowels kept the rods in place. Eventually, I used epoxy to permanently glue them down before spackling and spraypainting the entire form. The wooden knobs were laquered and attached last.

Bendy, Betty, and Bob

Form study in creating a family of objects with two assigned words. I ended up creating three teapots with huge personalities.
