21st Century Hamsa

Every day there is report about a new data breach or another account hack that sends everyone scrambling. The latest breach at Equifax was especially egregious because the people affected have no control over what was stolen. These incidents have direct consequences on lives and livelihood.

How can we protect ourselves from these forces beyond our control?

Our ancestors had similar worries. Instead of using reporting agencies or changing passwords they attempted to ward off evil using symbol and ritual. It seems like we need something similar for the 21st century.

The Hamsa is an ancient symbol of good luck and an amulet to ward off the Evil Eye - a malicious stare believed to be able to cause illness, death or just general unluckiness. Hamsas often contain an eye symbol. The name hamsa (חַמְסָה ) comes from the Arabic word khamsa خمسة and from the Hebrew word hamesh חמש,  both meaning ‘five’ - a number associated with fighting the Evil Eye.

The Digital Hamsa updates this symbol for the modern day. It contains a modern eye modeled after the image sensor you’ll find digital cameras. It also contains hidden symbols and numerology to help safeguard against evil forces that arise from our digital lifestyle.

Data breaches and hacks are only going to get worse and we need all the help we can get.
