Kubo and the Two Strings: Texture Work

This project features some of my work on Laika's award-winning Kubo and the Two Strings. If you're not familiar with Laika's process, they create hybrid stop-motion/VFX animations using fabricated puppets with 3D printed faces that are switched out, frame by frame, to animate facial expressions and dialog. For Kubo, I painted 3D color printed "Rapid Prototype" faces and later in the production worked on face and skin textures for the background character assets created entirely through VFX. What you'll see here are some clips featuring assets I worked on as well as texture maps for the 3D printed character faces. Enjoy!
