Brief.
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on the 21st September. The design brief was to typographically express the essence of England, United Kingdom (my native country of residence), using the word ‘Hello’ as the main visual element.

Response.
Through the use of a shield ‘beer label’ foundation, a visual landscape was conveyed where two different styles of English greetings are being communicated with a ‘tongue in cheek’ tone, to highlight the cultural differences in England’s use of colloquial language – The North and South being one of the most diverse, notorious and controversial comparisons because of the associated misconceptions, which often connect with topics relating to political status and social class.

Subtle iconography has been implemented to reinforce the superficiality of the acclaimed North/South divide; combined with an ‘English country garden’ theme, offering a refreshing perspective to how united England can be as a nation. The use of colour highlights the red rose – the national flower of England, which has been adopted as England's emblem since the ‘Wars of the Roses’ and has now become a renowned symbol of peace.
