Below are a set of drawings for an aluminium frame double glazed window unit. Along with the drawings, we constructed a 1:1 scale model of the unit (see photos below). Research into NZ weather-proofing standards were the main focus for this project.

Below are a set of drawings for an aluminium frame double glazed window unit. Along with the drawings, we constructed a 1:1 scale model of the unit (see photos below). Research into NZ weather-proofing standards were the main focus for this project.

Photos (top down): Section view of aluminium frame and flashing, a half completed frame, the exterior side of the unit showing weatherboards and aluminium sill, the interior side of the unit with exposed gib lining showing insulation, the completed unit (can be pulled into 4 separate components hence the cuts in the frame). We used 2 pieces of 3mm black persplex representative of the 6mm double glazing and had our drawings etched on each side!
