While being in Finland at an art residency this summer, Arteles - Freedom for Creativity, I have finished several projects.
"Ruoho" ('grass' in Finnish) was the first one.
"Ruoho" is a diptych woven in a grass as the main medium; the grass is called Phleum pratense (Latin), timothy grass, meadow cat's tail, common cat's tail and has also some sweet names in Polish (tymotka łąkowa, brzanka pastewna...).

The other fibres used in the diptych are: green cotton boucle yarn and linen twine in natural colour (also as the warp).

Two pieces of the diptych were woven simultaneously, to make it easier to apply the same 'code pattern' in both.

Measurement: both pieces of the diptych are 25cm x 25cm.

What is interesting: the project has some time dynamics, as the grass changes colour in process of drying.
