Each piece presents itself as a completed object but alludes to potential and hidden identities only glimpsed at through the surface.
Pieces are constructed by weaving multiple layers of cloth simultaneously on the jacquard loom which interchange at various points connecting or crossing the layers. Once off the loom, the pieces can be turned inside out in a variety of permutations which affect the drape, scale, and perceived color and materiality.
This collection came out of handwoven studies executed on a dobby loom. These explorations in multiple layers are inspired by the dual nature of the ocean, in which a complex volume is built up by many divergent systems of currents and zones that come together to create a rhythmic surface.
