Gita and the Art of Selljng: Memoirs of a Sales Yogi

“You must be the change you wish to see in theworld,” the Mahatma said.

True to the spirit of those words, 'Gita and theArt of Selling: Memoirs of a Sales Yogi' is my attempt to change status quo in publishing.A status quo that has fiction offering little beyond inane entertainment; andnon-fiction that makes for dull ‘n dreary reading.

Inspired by ancient Indian classics of Panchatantra,Hitopadesha, and the like, I have looked to teach the nuanced art ofsalesmanship with a fictionalized plot. Insights on enterprise sales, gainedduring many decades of selling, have been conveyed in the work. It is flush with motivational nuggets too.

The book is no doubt an offshoot of my passions forsales, teaching, entrepreneurship and English. It also embodies a love of mine...thatof having a good laugh. The unusual mélange makes for a “laugh 'n learn” vein that oscillates between the serious and the facetious. Quite like the typical Bollywood potboiler!

It is categorized as ‘non-fiction’ for a reasonthough. It sure has a linguistic style that does not lend itself to a four-hour‘start-to-finish-read.’ A casual reader zeroing in on the merits or demerits oflanguage in it, without looking at the treasure trove of wisdom woven into thefabric of the protagonist’s life, is perhaps guilty of not seeing the forestfor the trees.
